A Year in Herbs journal
‘A Year in Herbs’ is an interactive journal which introduces you to one herb each month through a collection of recipes, remedies & reflections.
12 months, 12 plants.
Each herb is a useful plant which can be used to support natural health and wellbeing. They can be found growing in the local landscape all around you, making this an accessible, inclusive way to forge a deeper connection with your local natural environment.
The herbal remedies and kitchen creations are suitable for people of all ages, making this a lovely family-friendly gift of nature connection.
The plants are selected for their purpose each month within the cycle of the year, and which can be found growing across the British Isles. Inspired by the landscape of East Lothian, this truly is a creative collaboration where Kate and I hope to share our passion for the natural world.
Kate is a printmaker and illustrator and has made an enchanting motif print for each month’s herb, an invitation to creatively connect with the plants you find.
Each month is set out over 4 weeks, with space to add your own notes, memories and observations, and beautifully illuminated with linocut prints by Kate Millbank throughout. The journal is a paperback running to 130 pages, printed on matt 120gsm paper. It doesn’t contain dates, so you can begin in any month and enjoy a year of herbs starting any time.
“Kate and I are delighted to share with you our love of being outside, walking along the beautiful East Lothian coast, through the woods and along the hedgerows, spotting different plants, seaweeds and herbs. Experiencing nature in this way allows us to notice the seasons change and shift as the year moves through its cycle. We hope you enjoy the fun linocut illustrations and the recipes, remedies and reflections as you get to know each herb over the next 12 months.”
A journey with plants which unfolds over the months, it can be started in any month making this a lovely gift for yourself or a loved one.
