My Reiki journey

The journey so far…

I have found Reiki to be a path with the potential to transform your life.

For me, it’s been a way to self-healing and Reiki has opened my heart, mind and soul to a fuller, happier, healthier life. I am so grateful for my Reiki journey, which is never-ending.

In 2017, I experienced Reiki for the first time when a friend gave me a treatment to help me at a time when I was struggling with a traumatic experience. I had no idea what Reiki was, but after she reassured me that Reiki could do no harm, I agreed. After just one session I felt a peaceful acceptance of my situation, a sense of (unexpected!) happiness, and I decided there and then to learn about the Reiki system for myself.

The following year I undertook Reiki I training, followed by 5 years of self-practice when I deeply integrated the Reiki Elements. The 5 Precepts are now fundamental to my life - I use Reiki teachings to be calmer, less worried, less overwhelmed and more present.

It’s my spiritual journey that gave me the confidence and quiet sense of purpose to change the direction of my work. It also brought me to self-awareness of ADHD traits, and I identify with this experience. Reiki offers techniques for living life more intentionally in the present moment, which I’d always struggled with.

By the start of 2023 I knew I was ready for Reiki II (Okuden) and I worked on the practitioner level Certificate, and a year later in February 2024 I completed Reiki III, Master level (Shipiden) training.

A Reiki Master Teacher

In 2025 I had a realisation that I wanted to share Reiki in a way which honours the self-healing aspect of the system. Reiki is a modality which every body can learn and practice for themselves. It’s also how I see herbalism: both practices are accessible, simple, intuitive, and their power is amplified when you practice it for yourself.

Being a herbalist, in the home.

Being Reiki, day to day.

I completed the certificate in Reiki Master Teacher in November 2025. All my training has been with Maija Kovalevska at the Healing Hands Edinburgh The Reiki School.

A sense of purpose

Healing is a path towards your own sense of intuition and purpose, and I know I’m more ‘myself’ now than ever, weaving Reiki practice / teaching with home and community Herbalism.

To teach and practice fills me with such passion and a sense of purpose, I am full of excitement to share my journey.

Because no, I have definitely not always been aware of my own energy. Or in control of my responses and reactions, and these have so often led to a sense of depletion and detachment: I know that the journey with Reiki is what makes me feel as grounded, calm, grateful and centred as I do today.
